Having recently been appointed creative consultant at Calvin Klein, Heron Preston’s eponymous label has unveiled its first-ever collaboration with eyewear specialist Gentle Monster.

Revered for its experimentation of fusing culture and art into products, the futuristic South Korean label creates from the imagination. This latest collection sees Heron Preston’s signature “Spirit Level” design feature — first introduced on the heel of women’s boots — translated on a selection of sunglasses fit for the summer. Speaking on the collaborative project Preston explains, “We challenged ourselves to think of other ways the level could be applied across different product categories. The shape and construction of sunglasses is the perfect platform for this idea. The horizontal line that creates the temple on the side of the glasses directly relates to the line of a level. It was the perfect fit.”

Three variations of the acetate frames and 100% UV-protected lenses will be made available including “Level 0 01” featuring black frames, green spirit level on one temple as well as Heron Preston’s bold orange branding on the other arm, “Level 0 C1” adopts a transparent frame with “Level 0 NY1” coming in a navy gradient colorway. The collection is rounded off with “Level 0 01(B)” — a special-edition, not-for-sale product boasting a black frame and blue spirit level accent. All models arrive with a soft eyewear pouch inside a hard case which unfolds into a functional spirit level.

To celebrate the launch, Heron Preston and gentle monster on sale are hosting an exclusive offline “Hide and Seek” event. Commencing in New York on July 31, the sunglasses will be free to take for lucky finders from three random spots in six cities, the last stop being LA on August 5. Location hints will be revealed on the day via both brands’ Instagram.

The Heron Preston x Gentle Monster is slated for release globally on July 29, available on Heron Preston and Gentle Monster’s websites as well as select retailers.
